AI screening and interview software for high-volume hiring in Ireland

Last updated 10 October 2026

If you hire many people for similar roles, the first steps take a lot of time. This page explains what AI screening and interview software does and how to judge it.

What do these tools do?

They help with the first part of hiring: sorting a large pile of applicants, setting a short test, and running a first-round interview, so a recruiter can spend their time on the people most worth meeting.

Some tools read and rank CVs, some set tests, and some interview. Ask which of these jobs a tool does and which it leaves to you. A good tool shows its work, so the recruiter can see why a candidate was put forward.

Where do AI screening tools help, and where do they not?

They help most when the numbers are large and the first steps are the same for everyone.

AI screening tools do not replace judgement. A tool cannot weigh a candidate's circumstances, sell a role, build trust with a hiring manager or make the final decision, and it should not be used to guess a person's mood from their face or voice.

Roles that depend on a close personal read of the candidate, such as senior hires, are still best handled by a person from the start. Be wary of any tool that promises a number of hours saved without showing how it was measured. Time saved depends on your roles, your volumes and how your team works, so test a tool on your own roles before you rely on it.

How does Fios AI work?

Fios AI is being built in Ireland for roles that draw many applicants. Three AI team members, Seamus, Cara and Aoibheann, do the first steps, and a recruiter makes the call at the end.

What does a candidate experience?

The candidate gets an invitation by email for a specific role. They are told they are talking to an AI, not a person. They are asked for consent before anything is recorded, and they may be asked to show photo ID first. They take the test and the video interview in their own time. When a candidate completes these steps, a recruiter reviews the report and sees the answers written out. Our privacy notice sets out their right to ask for a person to review a decision.

What should you check before you buy?

Check whether a person makes every decision, whether candidates are told they are talking to an AI, how long recordings are kept, and how the vendor has assessed the tool under the EU AI Act and GDPR.

Our guide has a list of ten questions you can put to any vendor: The EU AI Act and hiring in Ireland.

Is Fios AI available now?

Not yet. Seamus, Cara and Aoibheann are in private build at app.fiosai.io, and access opens through the waitlist.
